edusa wasn’t usually one to bother with larger game. It wasn’t that she wasn’t capable; a wolf that couldn’t feed themselves was a dead wolf, and she would never be the type to stagnate in a state of mediocrity anyways. It was just that it was such a chore, and she would much rather hunt a rabbit or two to keep herself sated than go to all the trouble of working with others to take down anything larger. But, as ever, whenever Kaija said to jump, the warrior said ‘how high’. So when he ordered her to attend a hunt with him, it was a foregone conclusion that she listened.
The two were crouched at the edge of the ancient forest, watching the deer herd graze in the prairie beyond as they formulated a plan. It was one of the prairie’s lovelier days, a lush expanse of grass with the occasional bloom dotting the landscape. Medusa had no explanation for why the land alternated between oasis-like greenery and barren soil, but she’d never been one for poking at the whys of the world anyway. ”Did you want to go for one of the older ones?” She glanced disinterestedly towards one of the straggling elder does, its ribs visible even from a distance. ”Or one of the healthier ones? Too bad there aren’t any fawns yet. They’re so much easier to kill,” She sighed.
Her brown eyes gained a sort of feral gleam as she turned to look at her alpha, a low glimmer of zealotry that she couldn’t quite suppress. And why would she? In what other pack would she be permitted, if not encouraged, to express her bloodlust? To let her penchant for violence loose as she pleased, so long as it was turned on others? The large she-wolf tended to fluctuate wildly between an easy-going indifference and a fervent fanaticism on any given day, the binds tying her mind to sanity always just on the edge of snapping– yet they never did.
”Or maybe you wanted to go for the buck, the most dangerous of them all?” Her tone of voice made it clear that she thought such a thing was a foolish idea, but even so, it was clear in her body language and expression that she would do it if asked. He could ask her to stand still as the stag impaled her on its antlers, and she would– though she’d probably do her fair share of bitching while it happened. But Medusa had never claimed her loyalty to be a healthy one.
